Desert Hills Fire District Auxiliary

The Desert Hills Fire District Auxiliary is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to supporting Desert Hills Fire District and the community it serves. For decades, our members and supporters have turned pancake breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, donations, and community fundraisers into equipment, training resources, station improvements, and direct support for our firefighters. Our history is built on neighbors helping neighbors—and that tradition continues today.

About the Desert Hills Fire District Auxiliary

For decades, the Desert Hills Fire District Auxiliary has brought neighbors, volunteers, firefighters, and community supporters together with one purpose: helping Desert Hills Fire District better serve the people who depend on it.

That tradition is woven into the history of Desert Hills itself. The Fire District was established in 1971, and its early growth relied heavily on community involvement and volunteer labor. In the 1980s, volunteers helped reconstruct the building that became Fire Station No. 1 at 3983 London Bridge Road—a spirit of service that continues today through the Auxiliary. The Auxiliary’s community fundraisers have become a Desert Hills tradition of their own. Its pancake breakfast program dates back to March 1985, and by 2015 the organization was celebrating its 30th charity pancake season. That year, historical records showed thousands of breakfasts served annually, along with popular spaghetti dinners that regularly filled the fire station. Money raised through those events helped purchase or support items such as new fire hose, a chainsaw, LED emergency lighting, apparatus safety chevrons, kitchen equipment, and other needs of the Fire District. That mission has continued to grow. In 2024, Desert Hills Fire District board minutes reported the Auxiliary serving 638 pancake breakfasts and 392 spaghetti dinners, providing meals for a multi-agency firefighter training event, and anticipating approximately $30,000 in support for the District that year. In February 2025, the Auxiliary reported another 594 breakfasts and 379 spaghetti dinners served and was working toward a goal of providing $40,000 for new equipment, strengthened by additional donations from members of the community. Today, those traditions continue. The Auxiliary hosts regular pancake and biscuits-and-gravy breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, fundraisers, and other community activities, with volunteers remaining at the heart of everything it does. The District’s current Auxiliary schedule continues those events throughout the fall, winter, and spring, and openly encourages community members to volunteer and become involved. In 2026, the Desert Hills Fire District Auxiliary received formal recognition from the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) public charity, allowing the organization to expand its charitable fundraising and strengthen its ability to support future projects. DHFDA Tax Exempt letter

Whether helping purchase equipment, supporting firefighter training, improving fire-station facilities, or simply bringing hundreds of neighbors together over pancakes and spaghetti, the Auxiliary exists to turn community support into meaningful resources for those who serve.
